Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film, ‘Love & War,’ which boasts a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, might be seeing a shift in its release date. According to reports from Bollywood Hungama, the film is expected to miss its planned Eid 2026 release to avoid a direct confrontation at the box office with Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups. The new target release date is reportedly March 2026, aligning with the Eid festive period.
Challenges in the Shooting Schedule
The delay is attributed to ‘Love & War’ reportedly being significantly behind its shooting schedule. A source mentioned to Bollywood Hungama that this delay is a “blessing in disguise,” as it would be strategically better for two major Pan-Indian films not to release on the same date. Currently, the film is estimated to be around 40 days behind schedule, with approximately 75 days of shooting still pending. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has apparently requested the lead actors to allocate extended dates until Summer 2026 to ensure the film’s completion.
While the exact release date remains unconfirmed, the earliest the film can now hit theaters is estimated to be around June 2026. Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are expected to make an official announcement regarding the release date delay soon.
Details on Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups’
Yash’s film, ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups,’ was initially set for a December 2025 release. However, due to production delays, its release has also been rescheduled to March 2026. The movie is described as a period gangster drama featuring a prominent cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair. Produced by KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the film is being filmed in Kannada and English, with plans for dubbed releases in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil.
The film’s synopsis suggests a narrative set in a past era, unfolding in the coastal beauty of Goa. Beneath the picturesque beaches and vibrant culture, the story explores a powerful drug cartel operating in the shadows.
