Actress Ramya Krishnan recently graced Jagapathi Babu’s talk show, ‘Jayammu Nischayammu Raa,’ on Zee5. The episode took an emotional turn when the conversation shifted to their mutual friend, the late Soundarya. A clip from the 1999 film ‘Padayappa,’ featuring both Krishnan and Soundarya, visibly moved Krishnan, bringing her to the verge of tears. Jagapathi Babu then shared his thoughts on Soundarya, remarking on her beautiful heart that truly lived up to her name.
When prompted by Babu to share her memories, Krishnan, visibly trying to compose herself, recalled her initial encounters with Soundarya during the filming of ‘Ammoru’ (1995). She spoke fondly of their collaborations in films like ‘Padayappa,’ emphasizing how she witnessed Soundarya’s growth from an innocent young woman into a graceful artist who never let fame compromise her true self. Krishnan described Soundarya as a wonderful human being and a dear friend, her emotions evident as they looked at old pictures together.
Soundarya was a prominent figure in the film industry during the 1990s, having shared screen space with numerous renowned actors. Her career milestones include the hit film ‘Hello Brother’ and a Filmfare award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Ammoru.’ Tragically, her life was cut short at the age of 31 in a plane crash in April 2004, just days before her first wedding anniversary. She was on her way to campaign for the BJP when the accident occurred.
