Renowned actor, filmmaker, and producer Prakash Raj is set to take the helm as the head of the jury for the much-anticipated Kerala State Film Awards 2024. The State government officially announced this prestigious appointment, also naming celebrated filmmakers Ranjan Pramod and Jibu Jacob to lead the two sub-committees responsible for the initial round of judging. Both Pramod and Jacob will also serve on the final judging panel.
The distinguished final judging panel will feature a diverse group of talents, including dubbing artist Bhagyalekshmi, celebrated playback singer Gayathri Ashokan, innovative filmmaker and sound designer Nithin Lukose, and acclaimed author and screenwriter Santhosh Echikkanam. The other members of the preliminary judging panel are respected film critic M.C. Raja Narayanan, filmmaker V.C. Abhilash, poet and lyricist Vijayarajamallika, cinematographer Subal K.R., filmmaker Rajesh K., and writer and lyricist Shamshad Hussain.
The jury for awards dedicated to writings about cinema will be chaired by filmmaker Madhu Eravankara. This specialized committee will include prominent film critic A. Chandrasekhar and writer Vineetha Vijayan. Chalachitra Academy Secretary C. Ajoy will fulfill the role of member secretary across all judging panels. A substantial 128 films have been submitted for the awards this year, with the intensive jury screening process scheduled to kick off on October 6.
