INOX Air Products (INOXAP), a leading manufacturer of industrial and electronic gases, has unveiled ambitious plans to invest in a cutting-edge manufacturing hub right in the heart of Gujarat. This strategic move aims to bolster India’s rapidly growing semiconductor and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) industries.
The groundwork has already begun, with INOXAP securing a prime land parcel in Dholera, Gujarat. Development of this Electronic Specialty Gas Hub is currently in an advanced planning phase, signaling a swift progression towards its operational launch.
Once operational, this innovative hub will be responsible for producing and supplying Ultra High Purity (UHP) bulk and specialized gases – including critical elements like Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Hydrogen. These are indispensable components for sophisticated semiconductor fabrication processes.
More than just a production facility, the Hub is meticulously designed to serve as a comprehensive fulfillment center. Its primary goal is to guarantee a consistent, contamination-free supply of these vital gases to fabrication plants (fabs) and OSAT units throughout India, ensuring uninterrupted and high-quality production.
This significant venture is a core part of INOXAP’s broader ₹500 crore investment strategy. This substantial capital is earmarked for enhancing purification capabilities, establishing robust, import-connected supply chains for essential gases, and implementing state-of-the-art transport and packaging systems.
Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, highlighted the strategic importance of this development, stating, “With this new Hub, we are laying the groundwork for a truly self-sufficient supply chain. This infrastructure will empower the ambitions of international chipmakers and electronics manufacturers who are choosing India as their base for setting up fabrication facilities.” He further emphasized the company’s commitment, adding, “Leveraging our extensive pan-India presence and decades of proven operational excellence, we are dedicating our full engineering and execution prowess to construct a world-class facility.”
Specialty and bulk gases are absolutely crucial to semiconductor fabrication. They enable the precise etching, deposition, doping, and chamber cleaning processes required for chip manufacturing. The ultra-high purity of these gases is not just important – it’s fundamental to maintaining wafer integrity, optimizing device performance, and maximizing fabrication yield.
