Pokémon Legends: Z-A sold almost six million copies in its opening week.
In a statement, The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which debuted on October 16, has already sold 5.8 million units worldwide, with around half of those bought for Nintendo’s new console, the Switch 2.
This marks the first Pokémon game to feature real-time Pokémon battles and positions it as the fifth best-selling game of the franchise in terms of first-week sales.
Comparatively, these sales figures surpass those of Pokémon X/Y and Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee in their initial weeks. However, they didn’t quite reach the heights of Pokémon Scarlet / Violet, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Pokémon Sword / Shield.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set in the vibrant Lumiose City, where an ambitious urban redevelopment plan is underway to create a harmonious environment for both people and Pokémon. The game introduces an innovative new battle system. IGN’s review awarded it 8/10, concluding that: “Pokémon Legends: Z-A finally feels like Game Freak hitting its stride in Pokémon’s 3D era, with a fun setting to explore, a well-written story, and a total battle system overhaul that works surprisingly well.”
A video review of Pokémon Legends: Z-A was also included in the original article.
For those looking to dive deeper into the game, comprehensive guides are available covering Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s new battle system, tips for catching popular Pokémon like Eevee and Gengar, and finding all colors of Flabebe. Intriguingly, Pokémon Legends: Z-A features a formidable area known as Wild Zone 17, which can become quite intimidating depending on the time of day.
