Nintendo recently announced Pokemon Pokopia, a new cozy game for the Pokemon franchise. Not to be outdone, Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, have now revealed their own take on the genre: Palworld: Palfarm, a charming spin-off.

Similar to Pokemon Pokopia, Palfarm invites players to collect Pals and immerse themselves in a peaceful farming existence. Here, Pals assist with everything from harvesting crops and cooking meals to managing a food-selling business. Each Pal contributes unique abilities, making farm life much smoother for the player.
However, Palfarm isn’t entirely without its challenges. Pocketpair has hinted at a darker side, confirming that some Pals will actively raid player communities. The game’s trailer further emphasized this darker tone with a scene depicting a gunshop owner wielding a weapon, a departure from the generally lighter themes found in Pokemon games.
Currently, Palworld: Palfarm can be wishlisted on the Steam platform, although its availability for consoles remains unconfirmed. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, Nintendo continues its legal challenge against Pocketpair, citing Palworld’s similarities to Pokemon. While Pocketpair previously removed certain features in response to Nintendo’s concerns, the latter has now invoked a patent covering the core gameplay mechanic of summoning and battling characters within a video game.
Adding to the ongoing legal complexities, Nintendo recently contended that game modifications, or “mods,” do not qualify as either games or “prior art” in the Palworld lawsuit. Despite the lack of an immediate settlement, Pocketpair is proceeding with a significant array of updates planned for the original Palworld game, scheduled for release in 2026.
