In a significant development for regional security, Pakistani forces successfully eliminated 17 militants belonging to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a meticulously planned joint operation in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This crucial action was reported by police on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
District Police Officer (DPO) Karak, Shahbaz Elahi, confirmed that the intelligence-driven operation was executed collaboratively by the Frontier Corps (FC) and local police on Friday. The target area was Karak district, where credible intelligence indicated the presence of militants affiliated with the TTP’s Mullah Nazir group.
As security personnel advanced, the militants initiated gunfire, leading to a fierce confrontation. The forces responded decisively, resulting in the deaths of 17 extremists. Following the engagement, authorities recovered a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition.
During the intense clashes, three security personnel sustained injuries.
The neutralised militants were implicated in numerous serious offenses, including orchestrating attacks on security forces, engaging in kidnappings for ransom, and participating in other grave acts of terrorism.
To ensure comprehensive follow-up and to track down any militants who might have fled, the Karak district administration promptly implemented a curfew in Darsha Khel and surrounding villages within the Karak district, enabling a broader combing operation.
