Pakistan’s military forces successfully neutralized seven militants affiliated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a precision intelligence-led operation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, located in the country’s northwestern region. The army confirmed these details in an official statement released on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
The critical operation unfolded on Saturday, September 20, 2025, within the Dera Ismail Khan district, an area strategically positioned along the border with South Waziristan. Security forces launched the mission after receiving credible intelligence reports regarding the presence of TTP operatives in the vicinity.
Among the seven individuals eliminated by the security forces, a detailed statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army’s media branch, revealed that three were identified as Afghan nationals, and two were confirmed to be suicide bombers.
The ISPR statement further reiterated Pakistan’s firm expectation that the interim Afghan government, currently led by the Afghan Taliban, must fulfill its international obligations. This includes actively preventing its territory from being exploited as a launching pad for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
This recent success follows earlier significant counter-terrorism efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a total of 31 TTP militants were killed in two distinct encounters between September 13 and 14.
The urgency of Pakistan’s stance was recently highlighted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who, last week, issued a clear demand to Afghanistan: choose unequivocally between supporting terrorists or aligning with Pakistan in the fight against extremism.
