OpenAI recently rolled out two major updates for its Sora 2 artificial intelligence (AI) video generation model, significantly boosting user accessibility. While the San Francisco-based AI pioneer launched Sora 2 in late September, its use was initially confined to the new iOS app. This restricted access meant many potential users were left out, as it required both an invite and an iPhone. OpenAI is now tackling these limitations, including the previously constrained video duration.
Create Longer, More Engaging Videos with Sora 2
The official OpenAI team shared news of these exciting Sora 2 enhancements just two weeks after the initial release of their groundbreaking video generation model. This rapid update underscores the company’s growing capacity to provide advanced computing resources to its user base.
Perhaps the most significant improvement is that users are no longer tied to the Sora app for creating AI videos. Now, even individuals without an iPhone can generate AI videos directly through the Sora website. While an invite code is still necessary to access Sora 2, existing ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers can continue to use the earlier Sora AI model without needing a new invitation.
Additionally, now all eligible users can generate up to 15-second-long AI videos using Sora 2. This is an important update, given that the AI models were previously capped at the 10-second limit. Those with an active Pro subscription can generate up to 25-second-long videos using the video generation model.
Beyond these updates, ChatGPT Pro users gain access to the Sora storyboard directly on the web when utilizing Sora 2. This storyboard functions as an intuitive video editing suite, empowering creators to incorporate reference images, adjust video resolution and aspect ratio, and fine-tune video length with straightforward controls.
The video timeline feature allows users to apply distinct text prompts to individual frames, offering precise guidance to the AI model throughout the video generation process.
