India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is accelerating its commitment to green energy, with an ambitious goal to acquire an additional 2.5 to 3 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects by the year 2030. This significant expansion was highlighted by Executive Director Satyan Kumar in an announcement on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Kumar noted that the company already maintains a substantial renewable energy portfolio of approximately 2.5 GW, setting the stage for impressive growth in the coming years.
Beyond its clean energy initiatives, ONGC is also focused on strengthening its natural gas supply. The corporation is actively seeking to import 3 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year through new, long-term agreements. Officials anticipate that several of these crucial import contracts will be finalized within the next 12 months, further diversifying ONGC’s energy strategy.
