The highly anticipated OnePlus 15 is set to make its official debut in October, stepping in as the successor to the popular OnePlus 13. Before its global launch, the device was publicly showcased at the Snapdragon Summit Global Highlights event in India on Friday. This appearance confirmed earlier rumors about significant design changes, including a revamped rear panel that bears a strong resemblance to the recently introduced OnePlus 13s.
OnePlus 15: Ushering in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Era
While the OnePlus 15 had been briefly glimpsed before, this event marked its official public reveal. The showcased model featured an elegant white finish. Its back panel closely mirrors that of the OnePlus 13s, characterized by a distinctive rectangular camera housing positioned in the top-left corner.
Although the OnePlus India CEO refrained from divulging specific details about the new handset during the event, a considerable amount of information has already emerged through official teasers and leaks.
OnePlus has officially confirmed that its next flagship smartphone will be powered by the groundbreaking Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This represents Qualcomm’s latest top-tier mobile chipset, manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 3nm (N3P) process. The 64-bit architecture of this System-on-Chip (SoC) promises an impressive performance boost of up to 23 percent and a 20 percent improvement in efficiency compared to its predecessor.
The OnePlus 15 is poised to be among the first wave of devices featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, alongside other expected flagships like the Xiaomi 17 series, Honor Magic 8 series, and the Realme GT 8 Pro.
Notably, the previous flagship, the OnePlus 13, was equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
In a significant upgrade from previous models, the OnePlus 15 is also confirmed to feature a stunning 165Hz display. This high refresh rate will be a game-changer for mobile gamers, enabling incredibly smooth visuals and support for titles running at up to 165 frames per second (fps). Furthermore, the handset will launch with ColorOS 16, built upon the latest Android 16 operating system.
As the launch date for the OnePlus 15 approaches, more detailed information is expected to be released. The company might unveil additional specifications and features at the upcoming OnePlus Gaming Conference 2025, scheduled for September 26 in China.
