The highly anticipated OnePlus 15, slated for an October launch in China, is set to take over from last year’s OnePlus 13. This flagship device recently made its public debut at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit Global Highlights in India, where OnePlus confirmed its upcoming release in India as well. The company has already excitingly announced that the phone will boast the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Adding to the buzz, a prominent YouTuber has published an early gaming performance review, pitting the OnePlus 15 against the recently released iPhone 17 Pro Max.
OnePlus 15: An Early Dive into Its Gaming Prowess
In a detailed video, tech creator Geekerwan provided an early gaming review of the upcoming OnePlus 15. To rigorously assess its CPU and GPU capabilities, the device underwent both the Geekbench 6 CPU test and the 3DMark GPU test. The OnePlus 15, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, achieved an impressive 12,352 points in the multi-core CPU test and 3,836 points in the single-core test on Geekbench.
In comparison, the Apple A19 Pro chip, found in the new iPhone 17 Pro Max, recorded slightly lower multi-core scores on Geekbench, hitting 11,054 points. Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Pro Max surpassed the OnePlus 15 in single-core performance with 4,019 points.
The recently unveiled MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC secured the third spot in these tests, achieving 10,716 points for multi-core and 3,709 points for single-core performance.
For GPU performance, the OnePlus 15, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, notched 3,143 points in the 3DMark Steel Nomad Light test, thereby outperforming the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s A19 Pro chip, which scored 3,004 points. Notably, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset emerged as the top performer in this category, achieving an impressive 3,386 points.
Beyond benchmarks, the YouTuber tested the OnePlus 15 with popular games such as Honkai: Star Rail, Garena Delta Force, and League of Legends Mobile. The review noted that the phone handled these titles smoothly at 60 frames per second. The device’s ultra-responsive 165Hz refresh rate display is also expected to significantly elevate the overall gaming experience.
