Diwali is a time when homes are usually adorned with countless diyas and twinkling fairy lights, creating a magical festive atmosphere. However, one man from Noida has managed to capture everyone’s attention with his incredibly minimalistic approach to Diwali decor. His balcony, featuring a single string of green fairy lights, has become an internet sensation.
The Viral ‘Green Lights Wala Flat’
The unique Diwali decoration first gained traction after Noida-based vlogger Karun Lakshya, known as Maddy (@yourmaddyrider), shared a video of the ‘green lights vala flat’ on Instagram. In the clip, Maddy, visibly amused, zoomed in on the lone string of lights draped haphazardly over a small section of the balcony railing. His commentary, filled with laughter, humorously suggested the homeowner’s reluctance to go all out for Diwali. The caption, which read ‘Ek aalsi insaan ki kahani during Diwali preparation’ (The story of a lazy person during Diwali preparation), perfectly encapsulated the lighthearted vibe of the video.
The video quickly went viral, garnering over 23 million views and thousands of delighted comments from netizens who found the decor both funny and relatable.
Meeting the Flat’s Residents
Intrigued by the viral sensation, Maddy and his wife decided to visit the residents of the much-talked-about flat. Armed with a new string of lights as a gift, they rang the doorbell, only to be greeted by a man who was already aware of the viral video.
The resident, Yageshwar, revealed that the green lights are actually a permanent fixture on his balcony, illuminating it throughout the year. He explained that the limited decor was a conscious choice, as he and his flatmates prefer to keep plants on the rest of the balcony. Maddy, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but quip, “Main pehle hi jaanta tha bachelor hoga” (I knew the flat would have bachelors living in it), adding another layer of humor to the already amusing encounter.
