Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who was recently awarded the esteemed Nobel Peace Prize, has voiced profound confidence that the opposition will successfully achieve a peaceful transition to democracy in Venezuela.
“We haven’t reached our goal yet, but we are working tirelessly to make it happen, and I am absolutely certain that we will prevail,” she stated to Kristian Berg Harpviken, the director of the Nobel Institute and secretary of the Nobel Committee. This affirmation came during the call informing her of her 2025 prize win.
Machado, with humility, added, “This is undoubtedly the greatest recognition for our people, who truly deserve it. I am simply one individual, and I genuinely believe I do not deserve this honor myself.”
