After a 13-year hiatus since Ryu Hayabusa’s last solo outing in Ninja Gaiden 3, the iconic legend returns this week in Ninja Gaiden 4, introducing a new hero named Yakumo. To mark this epic comeback with an equally epic stunt, Team Ninja community manager Emmanuel “Master” Rodriguez teamed up with musician Swae Lee for a thrilling helicopter ride over Miami. During the flight, Rodriguez remarkably played Ninja Gaiden 4 on a massive screen, carried by a second helicopter.
This audacious aerial display shattered a Guinness World Record for the largest video game screen ever flown by helicopter. As Rodriguez masterfully navigated Yakumo through perilous challenges, Swae Lee delivered an electrifying performance of tracks from his album, “Flammable.”
The inspiration for this gravity-defying spectacle came directly from Ninja Gaiden 4’s narrative, set against a backdrop of a future Tokyo where towering skyscrapers have been built even higher to escape the toxic floodwaters that ravaged the lower city. While high-flying action has always been a hallmark of the Ninja Gaiden series, this installment promises to elevate it to unprecedented heights.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is slated for release on October 21st, available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5, with specific launch times varying by region. Adding to the excitement, this highly anticipated sequel will be a day-one title for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Known for its challenging gameplay, the series will now offer players more adaptable difficulty options.
Sadly, earlier this month, the legendary video game developer Tomonobu Itagaki, the creative mind behind both Dead or Alive and the revitalized Ninja Gaiden series, passed away at 58.
To tide fans over, a gallery of 12 new screenshots has also been released, showcasing the game’s stunning visuals and intense action.
