Nepal’s President, Ramchandra Paudel, was urgently admitted to a hospital on Saturday, October 11, 2025, following a sudden onset of health issues. Authorities have stated that his condition remains stable.
The 80-year-old President was taken to the Manmohan Cardiothoracic and Vascular Transplant Centre in Kathmandu after his health unexpectedly declined, according to officials from the President’s Office.
Hospital sources confirmed that Mr. Paudel experienced severe headache and vomiting before his admission.
A press release from the hospital noted that doctors are closely monitoring his health, which is reported as normal at this time.
Earlier that Saturday morning, President Paudel was scheduled to meet with approximately 20 representatives of the Gen Z group for important discussions.
However, due to his health deterioration, this dialogue has been rescheduled and postponed until Monday, October 13, 2025.
It’s not the first time President Paudel has faced health challenges; in 2023, he was airlifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for treatment of a chest ailment after experiencing shortness of breath.
The Gen Z youths had intended to present their demands to the President, which reportedly include immediate legal action against officials responsible for using excessive force during their protests last month.
Additionally, they are pushing for the inclusion of some Gen Z representatives in the cabinet, currently led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
These developments follow large-scale anti-government protests organized by the Gen Z group in Kathmandu on September 8 and 9, which tragically resulted in 76 fatalities. On the initial day of these protests, 19 demonstrators were killed in police firing incidents.
