Nepal’s interim Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, has once again expanded her cabinet. This marks the third expansion since she assumed leadership in September, with two new ministers officially joining the government this past Sunday, October 26, 2025.
During a special ceremony, President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office to Bablu Gupta and Sudha Gautam. This induction followed the Prime Minister’s recommendations, as confirmed by sources from the President’s Office.
Bablu Gupta has been appointed to oversee the Ministry of Youth and Sports, while Sudha Gautam will take on the crucial portfolio of Health and Population. With these new additions, the cabinet now comprises 10 ministers.
Prime Minister Karki was appointed as the caretaker leader on September 12, stepping in after two consecutive days of ‘Gen Z’ protests on September 8 and 9 led to the resignation of former Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli.
Ms. Karki is expected to continue her role as interim Prime Minister until Nepal’s next general elections, which are slated for March 5.
