Who Can Apply? Understanding the MP SET 2025 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the State Eligibility Test, you’ll need a postgraduate degree from a recognized university. Good news for those still pursuing their studies: final-year postgraduate students are also welcome to apply! For General and Other Backward Class (Creamy Layer) candidates, a minimum of 55% marks is required. However, candidates from SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and differently-abled categories need only 50% marks. Plus, PhD holders get a helpful 5% relaxation in these qualifying marks.
Exam Structure and Locations: What to Expect on Test Day
The MP SET 2025 will be hosted across 12 major cities: Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Satna, Sagar, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Khargone, and Ratlam. The examination covers 31 subjects, with the syllabus mirroring that of the UGC NET and UGC CSIR NET.
The exam format includes two papers, both completed within a single three-hour session. Candidates from other categories or those outside Madhya Pradesh will pay Rs. 500, in addition to the Rs. 40 portal fee. Should you need to make any changes to your application, a correction window will be open from October 30 to November 22, 2025, with a fee of Rs. 50 per modification session.
