The compelling script is penned by Yasuhiro Nakanishi from ‘Toilet-bound Hanako-kun’ fame. Character designs and chief animation direction are skillfully handled by Keiko Kurosawa of ‘ASTRA LOST IN SPACE,’ while the evocative music is composed by Michiru Oshima, recognized for ‘Anne Shirley.’ Yuji Higa, the founder of studio Kagokan, serves as the animation producer, ensuring a truly immersive visual experience.
Based on Nowaki Fukamidori and Kakeru Sora’s original manga, which is officially published in English, the story follows Mifuyu, a high school student with a unique heritage. Descending from a lineage of esteemed book collectors, her life is steeped in literature; her great-grandfather established the famous Mikura Hall library, and even the townsfolk are avid readers. There’s just one tiny problem: Mifuyu despises books! However, fate has a twist in store. When a mysterious thief targets Mikura Hall and triggers an ancient curse, Mifuyu finds herself with no choice but to recover the stolen books. To do so, she must literally step into the very stories she detests! With the unexpected assistance of the enigmatic Mashiro, can Mifuyu restore her great-grandfather’s treasured collection and save her beloved town from a magical impending doom?
