What happens when one of the year’s most anticipated action games crosses paths with a legendary MMORPG? Gamers eagerly await every scrap of information! Thankfully, Capcom, during its Tokyo Game Show Online Program, has finally shared exciting new details about the Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14 crossover. They’ve revealed two iconic jobs (or classes, as some know them) making their debut in Wilds, along with a confirmed release date just days away. Plus, there’s a sneak peek at what to expect in Title Update 4 later this year.
This exciting collaboration, rumored to have originated from a casual chat between developers (as shared by FF14 director ‘Yoshi-P’), brings two beloved Final Fantasy 14 jobs into the world of Monster Hunter Wilds. Leading the charge is the Dark Knight, a formidable warrior wielding a massive two-handed sword and harnessing the raw power of darkness. Equip the new Bale Armor set to unleash the Dark Knight’s devastating unique ability, the Blackest Night, and wield their exclusive weapon skill, Shadowbringer.
Then there are the Pictomancers, who wield a paintbrush as their weapon. Through the magical art of pictomancy, they can conjure their painted creations to life, delivering damage with whimsical yet potent spells such as Pom Motif, Wing Motif, and Mog of the Ages.
Beyond the new combat styles, players can also look forward to a wealth of cosmetic additions. These include fresh equipment for your loyal Palico and Seikret companions, stylish pendants, and a variety of gestures, including the fan-favorite Cactuar pose. While four gestures will be available for free, a Cosmetic DLC Pack 3 offers premium items like a charming fox tail and ears combo, alongside adorable new outfits for your furry partners.
A brand-new mission awaits players who have completed the ‘What Lies Ahead’ main quest. Additionally, prepare to face Nu Udra, the third arch-tempered monster, in a permanent event quest. Capcom also hinted at the highly anticipated fourth Title Update, set for December 2025, which promises an epic confrontation with the formidable lava dragon, Gogmazios.
Mark your calendars! The Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14 crossover, part of Title Update 3, is set to launch on Monday, September 29. The challenging arch-tempered Nu Udra will become available to hunt a month later, on Wednesday, October 22. If you’re new to the hunting grounds, ensure your PC meets the Monster Hunter Wilds system requirements before diving into this epic collaboration. While the effectiveness of Shadowbringer as a top-tier weapon remains to be seen, many other powerful options exist for optimizing your builds. Join our community to discuss this monumental crossover and prepare for the hunt!
