Minecraft Live 2025 has just concluded, delivering a treasure trove of information about upcoming game content. Fans received an in-depth preview of The Copper Age update and an exciting glimpse at the “Mounts of Mayhem” release, slated for later this year. This latest livestream, always a highlight for gaming news, did not disappoint. Key reveals include the Nautilus, a magnificent new mob perfect for underwater exploration, and the Spear, a versatile weapon that promises to revolutionize combat.
For those who’ve long wished for copper to shine in Minecraft, your patience is about to be rewarded! Minecraft Live confirmed the imminent arrival of The Copper Age, an update poised to significantly enhance early game progression. Many of its features, like the charming Copper Golem capable of organizing items between your Copper Chests, have been undergoing testing. (Originally, a YouTube video detailing these features was embedded here.)
The highly anticipated Minecraft 1.21.9 update, bringing us The Copper Age, officially launches on Tuesday, September 30. Upon its release, players can craft a full suite of copper tools, armor, and weapons. Enthusiasts will also love the new copper torches, lanterns, and chains. These new copper items offer stats that bridge the gap between iron and gold, providing a much-needed progression step. Additionally, the update introduces the ‘Shelf,’ a versatile new furniture piece that functions as both a decorative three-space item frame and a practical storage solution, capable of holding full stacks of items.
Beyond The Copper Age, the stream offered an exciting preview of “Mounts of Mayhem,” expected to launch later in 2025. This update will bring the new Spear weapon, a tiered item that can be used for quick jabs or charged attacks. A well-timed charged blow can even dismount enemies! What’s more, the Spear can be wielded from your own mount or a minecart, with its damage increasing based on your movement speed. (An image showing a player riding a horse while carrying a spear was featured here.)
This update also introduces the Nautilus, a fantastic new underwater mount. Tame these creatures by feeding them Pufferfish, and they’ll allow you to explore the ocean depths with ease. You can even customize them with various armor types. Best of all, riding a Nautilus grants you an unlimited air supply, letting you explore subaquatic biomes without worrying about drowning, as long as you stay mounted. (An image of a player riding the new Nautilus underwater mount was shown here.)
Beware, however, as the deep oceans will also harbor a dangerous Zombie Nautilus variant, often ridden by the Drowned. On dry land, the long-Creative-mode-exclusive Zombie Horse will finally make its debut in Survival mode! While their riders may be hostile, the horses themselves are surprisingly passive.
Mark your calendars: “Mounts of Mayhem” is slated for a late 2025 release. Players will soon be able to try out its features through Bedrock previews and Java snapshots. Finally, the event also featured a celebratory video for the “Happy Ghast” mob from the “Chase the Skies” update, and confirmed an upcoming Dragon Ball Z DLC later this year.
