After more than a decade since Metal Gear Online ceased operations, its spiritual successor has finally arrived! Konami has launched ‘Fox Hunt,’ a brand-new multiplayer mode for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, included with the game’s latest update. Players can now dive into thrilling ‘cat-and-mouse encounters’ against each other, vying for supremacy.
To mark this exciting debut, Konami released a new trailer showcasing the mode’s capabilities. The video highlights advanced camouflage options that allow players to seamlessly blend into their surroundings. Both sides can utilize these stealth techniques, and clever decoys can be deployed to outsmart opponents, making every encounter a test of wits and reflexes.
Fox Hunt features two distinct online modes, both supporting up to 12 players. In ‘Survival Capture,’ teams must secure elusive Kerotan frogs throughout a tense, multi-phase mission, with the number of available frogs diminishing as the match progresses. The second mode, ‘Survival Intrude,’ challenges players to capture and hold strategic zones in fierce battles, where available zones also decrease over time, escalating the intensity.
Unfortunately, Fox Hunt does not currently support cross-platform multiplayer. However, players on the same console can easily create private matches to enjoy with their friends.
The success of MGS Delta: Snake Eater has been remarkable, with sales surpassing 1 million units by early September. Last month, Konami also rolled out a patch addressing various bugs and introducing an inverted camera option. While fans eagerly await more details, Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is still in development, though specific games and a release date are yet to be announced. For now, check out the comprehensive patch notes for the latest MGS Delta: Snake Eater update below.
