Ever wondered which battlegrounds await you in Counter-Strike 2? These aren’t just maps; they’re the vibrant arenas where legends are forged, where your squad will push for victory, and where every perfectly landed AWP shot feels incredibly satisfying.
Counter-Strike 2, a complimentary upgrade to the iconic Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, reimagines familiar gameplay elements like console commands and the ranking system. While maintaining the intense competitive spirit, Valve has lavished attention on map aesthetics and overall visuals. Below, you’ll find a comprehensive list of every Counter-Strike 2 map available for both unranked and ranked matchmaking.
Before its official release, Valve categorized the returning maps into three distinct groups based on the extent of their transformation: ‘Overhaul’ maps received a complete top-to-bottom reconstruction, ‘Upgrade’ maps benefited from significant lighting enhancements, and ‘Touchstone’ maps saw careful refinements to specific areas.
All Confirmed CS2 Maps
These are the competitive maps you can expect to find in Counter-Strike 2:
- Agency
- Ancient
- Anubis
- Dust 2
- Golden
- Inferno
- Italy
- Mirage
- Nuke
- Office
- Overpass
- Palacio
- Train
- Vertigo
Ancient
Introduced in CS:GO as a successor to Train, Ancient makes a welcome return in Counter-Strike 2. Its distinct jungle theme, already visually appealing, is now even more stunning thanks to the Source 2 engine. Known for its lush foliage and water features, Ancient’s updated visuals, particularly the more textured water, add a beautiful depth to the environment. Like Anubis, Ancient falls under the ‘Touchstone’ category, indicating meticulous refinement rather than a full redesign.
Anubis
It’s fair to say Anubis is one of the nicest-looking maps in CS2, sporting brand-new textures while utilizing Source 2’s lighting system to make the combat zones stand out. Anubis didn’t receive an overhaul or upgrade; instead, it’s been placed in the Touchstone category, indicating careful refinements.
Dust 2
Dust 2 is a Touchstone map in Counter-Strike 2, meaning Valve has kept the layout the same while improving the lighting in a few key areas. The most noticeable lighting change is in CT-Spawn and Tunnels. Previously, both areas were lit with a dim silver light, but that has been replaced with fresh yellow bulbs. Other areas of the maps are also much brighter to drastically improve character reading, making it easier to spot enemy models. Due to Source 2 rendering, Dust 2 looks much more spacious, even though the layout is the same.
Inferno
CS:GO’s Inferno map has always been a feast for the eyes, but with the latest upgrade to the Source 2 engine, it’s nothing short of breathtaking. The cobbles are brighter, and due to light shifts, the alleys appear much wider than they are. The latest iteration of the map has been given a lovely coat of paint to reflect CS2’s bright visuals.
Nuke
Nuke is in the Upgrade category due to its heavy enhancements. The location’s layout remains the same, but the textures and models used to build the maps have been through a transformation. The bulk of the upgrades seen on Nuke take place inside the main buildings – Valve has worked hard on improving the corridors and both bomb sites. The reflections on the floor and ramp are also very noticeable. The A site is bathed in sunlight, whereas the underground B area retains the gloomy blue but with better visuals. The reds and yellows are also much brighter, a detail that was missing in CS:GO.
Mirage
Mirage in Counter-Strike 2 is a visual spectacle to behold. Compared to CS:GO, the palace in Mirage glistens with expensive tiles. The reflections are so crisp it appears as though the tiles have just been meticulously polished to a mirror-like finish. Outside the palace, Mirage looks mostly similar to its CS:GO counterpart, besides the colors. However, the reflections and rich color palette breathe new life into the dusty location, offering a stunning and immersive gameplay experience.
Overpass
Overpass has undergone a complete overhaul; as a result, the German park looks much fresher, with major visual tweaks in Counter-Strike 2. Visually, one of the biggest changes Valve made to Overpass was by upgrading its water effects. Don’t splash around too long in the fresh puddles; a sniper typically overlooks B-site!
The changes made to Overpass are so drastic that players will find it difficult to believe they ever played the map without them, particularly the underpass, which was difficult to lock down for a long time due to poor lighting. The congested area looks much more spacious in decent light. The developer has also planted new balloons in the party benches, adding a pop of color to the bleak scenery.
Office
Another Touchstone update, this time for the classic hostage map, Office. The Source 2 engine has introduced upgrades to the way glass shatters in-game, which is perfect for Office as the building is surrounded by glass. This map is very difficult to win as the T-side due to the huge advantage CT has in terms of positioning with the hostages.
Vertigo
Vertigo is yet another Touchstone map – aside from a welcome lighting upgrade, it remains largely untouched. While this map used to be incredibly unpopular in CS:GO when it was first introduced, it has slowly gained fans as the map has been played a lot at the highest level.
CS2 Premier Mode Maps
As noted in our guide to CS2 ranks and ratings, the map selection for Premier mode differs from the general competitive pool. In Premier, players get to vote from a rotating selection of seven maps, allowing them to ban those they prefer not to play.
Here are the Counter-Strike 2 maps you can play in Premier:
- Ancient
- Dust 2
- Inferno
- Mirage
- Overpass
- Nuke
- Train
CS2 Wingman Mode Maps
Wingman is an exciting 2v2 competitive mode where standard maps are condensed to feature only one bomb site. It’s an excellent opportunity to hone your attacking and defending strategies in a more focused, smaller-scale environment.
Here’s a list of the maps available in Wingman mode:
- Rooftop
- Overpass
- Vertigo
- Nuke
- Inferno
Anticipated CS2 Game Modes and Maps
Valve teased several game modes and maps prior to CS2’s launch, but many have yet to appear since the game’s release. While Valve initially faced criticism for omitting beloved CS:GO features, the developer has gradually re-introduced some over time. We’re still eagerly awaiting the return of more classics.
Among the game modes fans are hoping to see return are Gun Game, Demolition, Flying Scoutsman, and Danger Zone. Notably, the recent major update brought back Arms Race, complete with the maps Baggage and Shoots.
Here’s a list of maps we’re still hoping to see officially added to Counter-Strike 2:
- Canals
- Lake
- Short Dust
- Cache
Cache
When CS2 launched in 2023, the absence of Cache, a fan-favorite map, was keenly felt. After more than a year, Cache has finally resurfaced, currently accessible via the Steam Workshop. Intriguingly, reports from May 2025 suggest Valve has acquired Cache from its creator, hinting at a potential official inclusion in the map pool later this year.
