But don’t worry – we’ve compiled all the essential strategies to help you conquer every main boss, as well as a list of the free-roaming Alpha Pals to seek out on Palpagos Island.
Facing the main boss challenges in Palworld means you’re up against the clock. To succeed, you’ll need to maximize your damage against these powerful Pals and their Tamers. If you’re struggling, teaming up with friends in multiplayer can make a huge difference. Defeating a main boss for the first time also rewards you with valuable Palworld Technology points, essential for upgrading your base. Whether you’re aiming to advance your game or simply prove your combat skills, this guide covers every Palworld boss and the best ways to defeat them.
All Palworld Main Bosses
Main Bosses (In Order of Appearance)
- Zoe & Grizzbolt
- Lily & Lyleen
- Axel & Orserk
- Marcus & Faleris
- Victor & Shadowbeak
- Saya & Selyne
- Bjorn & Bastigor
Zoe & Grizzbolt
Location: Rayne Syndicate’s Tower (112, -434)
Challenge requirement: 30,000 damage in ten minutes
To tackle this duo, bring your best Ground-type Pals like Gumoss and Fuddler, as they are highly effective against Electric-type creatures. Grizzbolt prefers close-quarters combat but can also unleash a flurry of electric missiles from a distance. Use the arena’s pillars to your advantage, positioning them between yourself and Grizzbolt to block incoming attacks.
Watch out for Grizzbolt’s triple ground slam, which it usually performs after rushing you – a series of well-timed dodges will help you avoid damage. Zoe herself will periodically aim a laser bolt; quickly duck behind cover to evade it. If you’re feeling daring, you can get behind Grizzbolt while your Pal distracts it, landing some melee hits with a club or spear, but be sure to steer clear of its electric area-of-effect attack.
Lily & Lyleen
Location: Free Pal Alliance Tower (185, 28)
Challenge requirement: 69,000 damage in ten minutes
Lyleen is a Grass-type Pal, making Fire-type Pals your go-to choice for this battle. Vanwyrm is particularly recommended, as you can ride it for increased mobility and direct its attacks while mounted. However, be aware that this strategy might cause Lily and Lyleen to focus solely on you, so maintain a strong defensive posture.
Keep your distance from Lyleen, as she can unleash a poison cloud directly in front of her. Aim for her head to land critical hits. Dodge her homing bubbles and hurricanes from afar, and be mindful of the seed grenades she scatters. She also fires a swift three-shot missile that can be evaded with a timely dodge or by taking cover behind a pillar.
Axel & Orserk
Location: Brothers of the Eternal Pyre Tower (-588, -518)
Challenge requirement: 130,000 damage in ten minutes
Orserk is a formidable Electric/Dragon-type, so a team of strong Ground-type or Ice-type Pals will serve you well. Ice-type Pals offer the added benefit of potentially freezing Orserk, giving you precious moments to land free hits or use medical supplies. Orserk often throws a thunder trident projectile that splits into three on impact, so stay alert. It also regularly summons a tracking poison cloud, so keep moving until it dissipates. Its lightning beam is tricky to dodge, so quickly take cover behind a pillar during its brief charge-up.
Avoid standing directly in front of Orserk to prevent being hit by its Draconic Breath. If it closes the distance quickly, prepare for a close-range area-of-effect attack that requires multiple swift dodges. By this point, you should have access to heavier weaponry; use long-range weapons and aim for headshots. If Orserk’s burst damage is overwhelming, consider upgrading your armor and bringing a Pal with lifesteal abilities.
Marcus & Faleris
Location: Tower of the PIDF (561, 334)
Challenge requirement: 147,000 damage in ten minutes
Faleris is a Fire-type, making Water-type Pals and Heat Resistant Armor crucial for this encounter. This fierce firebird attacks with fire tornadoes, fireballs, and various projectiles. Maximize your use of the arena’s pillars for cover. Faleris’ Ignis Breath unleashes a plume of flame directly forward, so maintain a mid-to-long range. It also frequently positions itself overhead to cast Fire or Electric area-of-effect attacks. Watch out for its thunderbolt, which can inflict a debilitating Shock status, leaving you vulnerable. Staying mobile and allowing your Pals to draw aggro is key.
Marcus and Faleris remain airborne throughout the fight, so melee-focused Pals won’t be as effective. Given their massive health pool and the time limit, inflicting Poison damage-over-time (DoT) can provide valuable supplementary damage.
Victor & Shadowbeak
Location: PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower (-149, 445)
Challenge requirement: 200,000 damage in ten minutes
Victor & Shadowbeak represent one of Palworld’s greatest challenges, so bring your heaviest firepower. The Rocket Launcher is incredibly effective, but its slow fire rate and costly ammunition mean every shot must count. Shadowbeak is a Dark-type Pal, so deploy your most powerful Dragon-type Pals against it.
Its Dark-based attacks include orb projectiles, a rapid-fire forward beam, and a massive wave of homing orbs. As with previous bosses, pillars and well-timed dodges are your best defense. Shadowbeak also uses Ice-based attacks like ice bombs, waves, and beams. Equip Cold Resistant Armor to counter Freeze effects, which you’ll likely have for the external environment anyway.
This is a long and tough fight. A Pal with lifesteal abilities can significantly increase your team’s survivability. If you’re struggling to make a dent, you might be underleveled and lack access to the best weapons. Consider leveling up yourself and your Pals before attempting this challenge.
Saya & Selyne
Location: Moonflower Tower (-595, 204)
Challenge requirement: 261,000 damage in ten minutes
Introduced in the Sakurajima Summer update, Saya & Selyne are a significant challenge requiring thorough preparation. Plasteel Armor offers the highest defense, and you should also equip an Ultra Shield and the Ring of Dark Resistance +2. It’s not recommended to attempt this battle below level 55.
Selyne is a Dark-type, so fill your team with Dragon-type Pals like Jetragon, Relaxasaurus, and Jormuntide to exploit her weakness. Selyne’s moveset features fast and powerful area-of-effect and homing attacks; stay mobile and let your Pals draw aggro. Many of her long-range attacks are telegraphed by a circle of light on the ground, giving you time to escape. Selyne’s Moonlight Beam is particularly deadly; dodge behind a pillar as soon as you see her crescent moon begin to charge.
Your Pals alone won’t be enough. Use a Gatling Gun or Rocket Launcher to deal significant damage, focusing on headshots while prioritizing your survival. Utilize cover and time your shots well to defeat Saya & Selyne.
Bjorn & Bastigor
Location: Feybreak Tower (-1295, -1668)
Challenge requirement: 509,000 damage in ten minutes
Bjorn & Bastigor, new to the Feybreak Winter update, are currently the toughest challenge in Palworld. Bastigor boasts a monstrous health pool and uses a mix of Ice, Water, and Ground-type moves. Level 60 is highly recommended.
The strategy here is similar to Saya & Selyne: bring the best possible equipment. Cold Resistant Hexolite Armor is essential for the journey to the tower. For weapons, a Rocket Launcher or Plasma Cannon are your best bets.
Fire-type Pals such as Jormuntide Ignis, Suzaku, and Ragnahawk are super-effective against Bastigor. If you’re using a Rocket Launcher, a flying mount allows you to expend ammo while staying agile. Bastigor’s abilities are generally easy to dodge, and pillars can block its attacks. Be careful not to get cornered, as escaping its freeze effect can be difficult.
Alpha Pal Bosses
Beyond the main bosses, Palworld features various optional ‘Alpha’ Pals. These can be found roaming the open world or at the end of dungeons. Defeating or capturing them grants Ancient Technology points, Ancient Civilization Parts, and other rare resources. While not as challenging as main bosses, they still offer valuable rewards.

Once you have the slab, build a Summoning Altar and use it to call forth the raid boss. After conquering a lower-level raid boss, you’ll gain access to summon its even more powerful ‘Ultra’ versions.
