Pokemon Go is currently buzzing with excitement as the annual Harvest Festival event unfolds from October 10-16. This festive period brings an increase in appearances of delightful fall-themed Pokemon such as Miltank, Smoliv, and Combee. However, the true stars of the event are two brand-new additions: Dipplin and its impressive evolved form, Hydrapple.
Dipplin represents another unique evolution branch for Applin, a Pokemon first introduced in the Teal Mask DLC for the main series titles. But just like Applin’s other evolutions, you’ll need to track down a special new item—Syrupy Apples—to get your hands on Dipplin. These can be a bit tricky to find, so we’ve put together some helpful tips to guide you through obtaining both Dipplin and Hydrapple in Pokemon Go.
How To Get Dipplin
The most straightforward method to acquire Dipplin is by evolving an Applin. Before you can do that, prepare to gather a fair number of resources. You will specifically need 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples to successfully trigger this evolution.
Syrupy Apples are a fresh item making their debut during the Harvest Festival. You can find them by spinning PokeStops. Once you’ve accumulated the necessary items, evolving your Applin into Dipplin is a simple process accessible directly from your Applin’s detail page.
How To Get Syrupy Apples
Similar to the Sweet Apples and Tart Apples required for evolving Applin into Appletun or Flapple, Syrupy Apples are primarily acquired from PokeStops. To maximize your chances, try placing a Mossy Lure Module at a PokeStop. While the module is active, Syrupy Apples will periodically appear on the map nearby.
When you spot an apple, simply tap on it to collect. Keep in mind that not every tap will yield an apple; sometimes, it might trigger an encounter with a wild Pokemon instead. Patience and persistence are key to stockpiling these valuable items!
How To Evolve Dipplin Into Hydrapple
After you have your Dipplin, you won’t need any more Syrupy Apples for Hydrapple, but you will need a substantial amount of Applin Candy. Evolving Dipplin into Hydrapple requires a hefty 400 Applin Candy. Furthermore, you must also catch seven Dragon-type Pokemon while Dipplin is set as your buddy, adding an extra layer of challenge to the process.
Collecting 400 candy can be a lengthy endeavor, but there are ways to speed it up. During the Harvest Festival event, Applin appears more frequently, so always use a Pinap Berry before catching one to double your candy rewards. You can also convert any Rare Candy you might have in your inventory into Applin Candy to help meet the requirement faster.
Can Dipplin And Hydrapple Be Shiny?
Unfortunately, shiny Applin has not yet been introduced into Pokemon Go, meaning you cannot currently obtain a shiny Dipplin or Hydrapple in the game. The timeline for shiny Applin’s debut is unknown, but new shiny Pokemon typically arrive during special in-game events. So, keep an eye out for future announcements!
