Best Plants to buy in the early stages
When you’re just starting your garden, growing and selling carrots is a great way to earn some quick pocket change. However, your main priority should be plants that don’t disappear after harvesting. These are generally more cost-effective, allowing you to recoup your investment without needing to buy replacement seeds repeatedly.
While most single-harvest plants don’t offer a great return, there are a couple of notable exceptions. Bamboo is exceptionally plentiful and offers excellent resale value. Buy as many bamboo seeds as you can whenever Sam’s Seed Shop restocks. Plant them in a quiet corner of your garden and let them be. Expose them to as many weather effects as possible to trigger various Grow A Garden mutations, which will dramatically increase their selling price. Mushrooms are another valuable single-harvest plant that can be worth a fortune.

Don’t forget about the guide achievements
The Guide Book is packed with objectives that reward you with experience. While higher-level rewards might not always be thrilling, completing each page of the Guide Book’s achievement sections grants useful items to boost your garden, such as seed packets, pet shards, and more.
To illustrate the effort involved, completing the Common Achievements page requires shoveling 100 plants, harvesting 200 carrots, selling 500 strawberries, and gifting one carrot and five strawberries. Successfully finishing these quests will reward you with a cooking kit and five silver common seed packs.

Mid-late game tips for making money
Once you’ve amassed your first million Sheckles, it’s time to strategically clear your garden. Use tools like the shovel to remove common, uncommon, and rare plants, freeing up valuable space for higher rarity crops. If you’re unsure about a plant’s rarity, simply hover your cursor over it and check the color of its name: grey, green, or blue indicates it’s likely safe to dig up.
Sell bulky single-harvest plants like watermelons, or replenishable but low-profit ones like apples, as quickly as possible. Instead, focus on growing high-yield trees such as coconuts, mangoes, dragon fruit, and romanesco. Bamboo remains a solid investment in the mid-game, as they grow quickly and fetch a good price when affected by multiple mutations. Eventually, you’ll be able to afford the most expensive plants and dedicate all your garden space to growing them for maximum profit.

Mutate your rarest pets
This phase is also ideal for investing in Grow A Garden pets. Initially, focus on acquiring any event-exclusive pets that offer mutations, as these might disappear with future updates. While their immediate value might be low, collecting them can open up lucrative trading opportunities later. Avoid common or uncommon eggs from the shop; very few are worth the effort. Instead, prioritize rare and higher rarity eggs, which can be truly game-changing.
Pets can only have one mutation at a time, so choose wisely. To mutate a pet, feed it until it reaches level 50, then deposit it for 500,000,000 Sheckles at the facility near the pet shop. Alternatively, you can give a Golden Acorn to a pet at level 40 or higher to grant it a random mutation from the following list:
- Shiny – provides an additional 15% boost to the pet’s XP per second.
- Inverted – provides an additional 30% boost to the pet’s XP per second.
- Windy – every 4 minutes and 47 seconds, there’s a 20.12% chance a nearby fruit gets the Windstruck mutation.
- Frozen – every 4 minutes and 47 seconds, there’s a 30% chance a nearby fruit gets the Frozen mutation.
- Golden – gives a big increase to the pet’s passive.
- Mega – pet is gigantic and has a 20% faster hunger rate. Gains an additional 10-40 XP per second.
- Tiny – pet is tiny and has a 20% slower hunger rate. Gains an additional 5-30 XP per second
- IronSkin – gives around a 35% to 45% chance to recover any stolen fruit.
- Rainbow – provides a bigger increase to the pet’s passive.
- Shocked – during a thunderstorm, every 45-60 seconds, it has between a 25% and 30% chance to attract lightning strikes to give nearby fruits the Shocked mutation.
- Radiant – every 20 to 30 minutes, it emits sunshine at a random nearby plant to advance its growth by 24 hours.
- Ascended – every 5 to 6 hours, there is around a 75% chance that this pet will give the Dawnbound mutation to a random fruit.
Pet Shards, obtainable from past and present events, can also be used to apply specific mutations:
- Aromatic – every 24 minutes and 42 seconds, a nearby fruit has a chance to get the Aromatic mutation. (Cooking event only)
- Fried – every 20 minutes, a nearby fruit has a chance to get the Fried mutation (Cooking event only)
- Tranquil – every 25 minutes, a nearby fruit has a chance to get the Tranquil mutation (Zen event only)
- Corrupted – every 25 minutes, a nearby fruit has a chance to get the Corrupted mutation (Zen event only)
- GiantBean – pet has a 15% faster hunger rate and gains an additional 0.12 XP per second for each Beanstalk planted in your garden. (Beanstalk event only)
- Glimmering – every 24 minutes and 45 seconds, a nearby fruit has a 20.14% chance of getting the Glimmering mutation (Fairies event only)
- Luminous – every 34 minutes and 15 seconds, a nearby fruit has a 20.04% chance to get the Luminous mutation (Fairies event only)
- Nutty – every 19 minutes and 40 seconds, the pet’s main ability has a 20% chance to activate twice. If this fails, your pet loses a level. (Chubby Chipmunk event only)
These Pet Shards are single-use items that permanently change your pet’s mutation and may offer options not otherwise available. Currently, you can acquire:
- Silver – by completing Pet Achievements
- Gold – by completing Pet Achievements
- Rainbow – by completing Pet Achievements

Buy tools and get crafting
Another crucial tip is to acquire additional tools from the Gear Shop or craft them at the bench. These tools can significantly enhance your pet’s abilities, improve watering efficiency, and even transform cleansing sprays into mutation-inducing ones. We highly recommend saving a Basic, Advanced, and Godly sprinkler to craft either a Lightning Rod or Tanning Mirror for 500,000 Sheckles.
When deployed, these special tools increase the chance of nearby plants being affected by Shocked or Sundried mutations during thunderstorms and heatwaves, respectively. You can also craft unique plants by combining seeds and existing plants, creating a kind of Frankenstein’s courgette! While an absurd concept, investing time, money, and resources into crafting will grant you access to Lingonberries, Mandrakes, and other craftable plants for your garden.

Participate in Admin Abuse events
Before launching “Grow A Garden” from the Roblox main page, always check the section that announces upcoming events. This section not only describes the event but also specifies when an “Admin Abuse” will occur, typically an hour before the update release.
Despite the unfortunate name, Admin Abuse events are valuable. During these times, one of the game’s main creators will send out large in-game messages (similar to shop restock alerts) announcing when rare items will be added to shops and warning players about special Admin-only weather events. Having many high-resale-value plants in your garden before an Admin Abuse begins is key to earning millions of Sheckles per plant. Fill your garden with crops like Bamboo or regrowable plants such as romanesco a couple of hours before the event switchover to ensure you have plenty of valuable produce to sell once the update is complete.

Cook plants in the cooking kit
To acquire a cooking kit, you can either complete Common, Rare, or Mythical tier achievements, or purchase one from the cosmetic shop for 1,000,000 Sheckles. Once you have it, place it in your garden. With a plant in hand, you can then add it to the pot for cooking. You can use up to five plants per recipe, so prioritize high-value plants or those with mutations to increase the chances of crafting food with similar bonuses. The mutation gauge on the cooking kit fills up as you use more fruits with these multipliers in your recipe.
The primary benefit of cooking is gaining friendship points when you feed the food to shop owners. Regular food is worth 2 points, while mutated food offers significantly more points per mutation. Since there’s a 24-hour cooldown before you can feed a shopkeeper again, creating food with many mutations is essential for quickly boosting your friendship levels.
Crafting specific Grow A Garden recipes, like Corndogs, is straightforward as only the type of plant matters. For example, a corndog requires one plant for the stick, one for the meat, and one for the batter. Many plants can serve as the stick, but only a few are acceptable for the meat. For the batter, you’ll need either violet corn or corn. Keep a few cakes on hand for NPC birthdays; gifting a slice will grant you one of the rarer items from their shop for free. Here are the NPC birthdays:
- Eloise (Gear shop) – March 4
- Sam (Seed shop) – July 2
- Isaac (Cosmetic shop) – December 1
- Raphael (Egg shop) – October 30
- Orson (Ascension shop) – Unknown

Look out for merchants
Every 30 minutes, a special merchant will appear to the left of the Seed shop. These merchants typically sell rare items that are either unobtainable elsewhere or extremely difficult to craft. Their inventory is usually limited and won’t include every item, but you might find exactly what your garden needs.
