Game Science is set to release a significant update for Black Myth: Wukong this week, kicking off with PlayStation 5 on October 13th, followed by a gradual rollout to Xbox Series X|S and PC. Players are being warned that this patch is enormous and will likely demand substantial free space on their systems.
According to an announcement on the official Black Myth website, the PlayStation 5 version alone requires a staggering 93.5GB of storage. Although the existing game version will remain playable, the developer strongly advises users to consider deleting and then reinstalling the game if their storage capacity is insufficient to accommodate the update.
The official Black Myth Twitter account (@BlackMythGame) posted: ‘Dear Destined Ones, A new update for #BlackMythWukong is on the way. In addition to regular bug fixes, it will also include some performance optimizations. Due to a considerable number of underlying changes, we’d like to remind you of the following: 1. Installed mods may cause…’
PC players also received a similar advisory, emphasizing the necessity of reserving adequate disk space for the download. Furthermore, Game Science strongly suggested uninstalling any existing mods to prevent potential compatibility conflicts during the update installation.
The comprehensive patch notes highlight that this latest update’s primary goal is enhancing performance and resolving bugs. This follows a previous September update that specifically tackled graphical blurriness on the Xbox Series X, an issue noted in comparison to the PC and PlayStation 5 versions. Reports from Digital Foundry indicated that the Xbox Series S experienced even more pronounced performance challenges. Although Game Science initially refuted claims that technical difficulties on the Xbox Series S caused delays in the game’s port, they have since admitted that optimizing Black Myth: Wukong for Xbox consoles proved surprisingly complex.
Earlier this year, Game Science also unveiled a Black Myth sequel, Zhong Kui, though a release date has not yet been announced. Below are the complete patch notes for Black Myth: Wukong version 1.0.20.21756.
