Excitement is building for Avengers: Doomsday as a significant leak has offered fans their initial glimpse at an array of character costumes. This exciting reveal includes classic X-Men designs and our very first look at the youngest member slated for the new Avengers team.
This unexpected sneak peek into the Avengers: Doomsday cast comes from a unique production gift. Crew members reportedly received a bag adorned with illustrations of 28 characters set to appear in Doomsday, featuring a mix of original Avengers, The Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and several others.
What’s particularly noteworthy is that these images give us our first impression of the final costume designs for Fox’s X-Men characters, alongside refreshed looks for many beloved MCU heroes. The image, originally shared on Instagram by Avengers: Doomsday makeup artist Gionvanna Ponci, has since been made private, as reported by ComicBook.
A tweet from Ben Geskin on September 21, 2025, showed the ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY promo art featuring first look at the X-Men’s costumes 👀’.
Starting from the left, the first column of the leaked image prominently features none other than Doctor Doom, portrayed by MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr. Fans largely agree that this costume aligns with the design previously showcased at a Disney marketing expo in China.
Next, we get our initial glimpse of Thor, with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role, sporting a Ragnarok-era short haircut and striking gold pauldrons. (It seems we’re collectively moving past Thor: Love and Thunder for now, which is perfectly understandable.) Following him are Antony Mackie’s Captain America and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, both appearing in costumes that are largely recognizable.
The second column introduces The Fantastic Four: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. They are now seen wearing new jackets, perhaps indicating their journey through colder cosmic environments. The team was last observed at the conclusion of Thunderbolts (or The New Avengers), venturing into our universe, likely on a quest for baby Franklin Richards, who was last depicted on Doctor Doom’s lap.
Moving to the third column, we find Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Letitia Wright as Shuri (who now also embodies Black Panther), Simu Liu as Xu Shang-Chi, and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, who was last seen having ascended to become the master of the multiverse.
Column four showcases the initial two members from the former Thunderbolts, now rebranded as The New Avengers. Florence Pugh’s Yelena, though partially obscured by the bag’s label, is clearly identifiable. Following her is David Harbour’s Red Guardian. Further down, a regal-looking M’Baku, portrayed by Winston Duke, sports a costume that has fans speculating if he has claimed the throne of Wakanda. Below him is Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, whose suit features a collar seemingly inspired by his comic book iterations. (After all, he needs to impress Sue.)
The X-Men follow, starting with a largely concealed figure believed to be Ian McKellen’s Magneto, clad in his iconic red robes. Below him are Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier, seen without his familiar yellow floating wheelchair from Multiverse of Madness, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, whose costume mirrors his look in Deadpool & Wolverine, and Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, notably wearing actual clothing for a refreshing change.
The second-to-last column introduces more X-Men, including Kelsey Grammer’s distinctly blue Beast, along with comic-accurate designs for James Marsden’s Cyclops and Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler. Transitioning back to the New Avengers, we then see Wyatt Russell as John Walker.
Concluding the lineup are Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, Danny Ramirez’s Falcon, and Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, who appears to have resolved his challenges with transforming into his super-powered persona. The final entry on the list is a young child, whose identity remains undisclosed, cast as Franklin Richards, the son of Reed and Sue.
Beyond discussing the revealed characters, fans are also actively debating notable absences from this leaked lineup. Interestingly, every character shown was already part of Marvel’s previous ‘big chair reveal,’ suggesting a calculated move to control the impact of leaks like this one.
Despite the extensive reveal, fans widely anticipate additional characters will appear in Doomsday. This includes Teyonah Parris and Lashana Lynch, who were last seen as Maria and Monica Rambeau in the X-Men universe. Conspicuously absent from the leaked art are Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, rumored for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and veteran Avengers like Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.
Should they be involved, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop are being held under strict wraps, as are other characters frequently linked with the Young Avengers, including Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel, Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang, and Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez.
Recent reports from the set hint that Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell have filmed scenes as Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter. Given their iconic status, it’s hardly surprising that these particular appearances are being kept a closely guarded secret.
Avengers: Doomsday has officially concluded its principal photography and is slated for a theatrical release on December 18, 2026. Is this the end of the leaks? Unlikely. True to Marvel’s tradition, the film is expected to undergo additional photography sessions, offering potential opportunities for further character reveals.
