Get ready for an epic Thanksgiving celebration in New York City! Nintendo and Macy’s have excitingly revealed that a gigantic Mario helium balloon will soar through the streets during the 99th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Nintendo has shared a stunning 3D model of the balloon, confirming it’s our beloved Mario in all his glory. Standing an impressive 51 feet long, 37 feet wide, and nearly 44 feet tall, this colossal rendition features his classic blue overalls and iconic red cap. His dynamic pose is a playful nod to the beloved Super Mario Galaxy game.
This grand spectacle in 2025 is a special tribute, marking the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game, which first launched in Japan back in 1985.

While this new design is certainly a showstopper, it won’t be Mario’s first time dazzling crowds at the famous parade. He previously made his debut at the 60th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade back in 1986. Other popular Nintendo characters, such as Pikachu, have also been featured as balloons in past parades.
Be sure to tune in! The 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is scheduled for Thursday, November 27, and will air live at 8:30 AM local time.
In other Mario news, many fans are eagerly anticipating a new 3D Mario game for the upcoming Switch 2 console. However, Nintendo has not yet made any official announcements about this highly anticipated title.
