A significant change is coming to iQOO smartphone users in India: Origin OS 6, built on the latest Android 16, is set to be released soon. This new operating system will directly replace the Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15. The exciting news was confirmed by the iQOO India CEO in a social media announcement, following earlier rumors about the Chinese tech firm’s plans to introduce Origin OS 6 in the region. This move aims to standardize the user interface across markets, as Vivo and iQOO devices in China already utilize the Origin OS skin.
Official Confirmation: Origin OS 6 Arrives in India
Nipun Marya, iQOO India’s CEO, made the official announcement, stating that Origin OS 6 will indeed be launching in India in the near future. This advanced user interface, powered by Android 16, will take over from the existing Funtouch OS 15 (Android 15-based) that currently powers Vivo and iQOO phones in India. This update is particularly notable as it will unify the software experience, bringing the Indian versions in line with their Chinese counterparts that already feature Origin OS.
