September 26, 2025: The official Xbox Ally prices and pre-order dates have been announced.
With the highly anticipated Asus ROG Xbox Ally gaming handheld launch just weeks away and units shipping globally, new leaks are emerging more frequently. The latest leak offers a significant clue regarding the Asus ROG Xbox Ally’s price and potential pre-order date, hinting at a surprisingly low cost of around $549, which is considerably less than earlier estimates.
It’s important to clarify that this leaked price pertains to the standard Asus ROG Xbox Ally, not the more powerful Xbox Ally X model. The Xbox Ally X is expected to contend for a top position among the best gaming handhelds upon its release, with an earlier leak suggesting its price could be close to $1,000. However, even the standard, lower-spec Xbox Ally appears to be a highly capable device, and this new pricing hint could make it an incredibly appealing option for many consumers.
This intriguing price information originates from a staff member at the British retailer Argos. They captured images of what seem to be in-store promotional posters, which featured various tech items including Asus and Lenovo laptops, Samsung phones, and the Asus ROG Xbox Ally. The image prominently displays the handheld’s price at £499.99. A direct currency conversion would place this at slightly over $670.
Typically, UK tech prices, after accounting for sales tax differences, tend to align more closely with US prices. For instance, the existing ROG Ally X has an MSRP of £799.99 in the UK and $899.99 in the US. In some cases, prices are almost identical, like the Razer Deathadder V4 Pro gaming mouse, which retails for £169.99 and $169.99. If we remove the VAT from the leaked UK price and convert it directly, it hovers around $560. This makes a US price of $549 entirely plausible, or perhaps even as low as $499.
While the pre-order date isn’t explicitly visible in the image, the leaker, who initially shared these photos on Reddit, also suggested that they had seen information indicating pre-orders would open “tomorrow.” Based on when the leak occurred, “tomorrow” would actually be today. As of now, official pre-orders for the device have not yet begun, but there’s still time for that to change throughout the day.

When comparing the specifications of the Xbox Ally to its more premium counterpart, the Xbox Ally X, the existing ROG Ally X, and even the Steam Deck OLED, it’s clear the standard Xbox Ally offers a less powerful hardware configuration. However, if Microsoft has effectively optimized Windows and its user interface for this handheld, it could still emerge as an incredibly compelling, budget-friendly option. Its rumored price and specifications position it as a direct competitor to the Steam Deck, potentially offering a strong value proposition for gamers.
Does this rumored Asus ROG Xbox Ally price make you eager to pre-order, or do you find its specifications a bit too modest for a new handheld device launching in late 2025? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
