Television stars Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij have recently been the subject of widespread online speculation following rumors of their divorce after 15 years of marriage. Reports had previously suggested that their divorce was finalized between July and August 2025. However, Mahhi recently shared a video on her YouTube channel to react to these rumors and directly address the claims about seeking alimony.
In the video, Mahhi stated, “Talk when you have proof. I don’t even understand alimony. For me, if a person has earned money, a woman doesn’t have a right to it when you separate from the relationship. I’m saying this not just for myself, but for society, as a woman. I believe that money belongs to the person who earned it.” She stressed that while it’s commendable for individuals to be self-sufficient, alimony is only justified for housewives who have never been employed.
Mahhi further expressed her view that women who are capable of working should do so and not rely on their father’s or husband’s finances, but should always strive for independence. Although the actress did not explicitly confirm or deny whether she and Jay are divorcing, she appealed to the public for privacy. “Please do not believe any news until I say it. Please respect our privacy, our children’s, our family’s, and our parents’ privacy. Please leave us alone. If we ever feel the need to share something, we will. Jay is my family, and he will always be my family. He is a wonderful father to my children and a wonderful human being.”
Jay and Mahhi exchanged vows in 2010 and are parents to their daughter Tara, and two foster children, Rajveer and Khushi.
