Maddock Films Sets the Record Straight: No Casting Announced for ‘Shakti Shalini’ and ‘Maha Munjya’

Maddock Films, the production powerhouse behind a burgeoning horror-comedy cinematic universe, recently clarified widespread rumors regarding the casting of its upcoming projects, Shakti Shalini and Maha Munjya.

Online speculation had suggested that Aneet Padda, recognized for her stellar performance in Saiyaara, was in discussions with producer Dinesh Vijan for Shakti Shalini. Additionally, actress Kiara Advani’s name had been linked to the same film.

However, Maddock Films issued a clear statement, confirming that no casting decisions have been made for either Shakti Shalini or Maha Munjya, which is slated to be the sequel to their 2024 blockbuster, Munjya.

The official statement emphasized, “While we genuinely appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding our horror-comedy universe, we wish to make it absolutely clear that all reports concerning the casting for upcoming installments like Shakti Shalini and Maha Munjya are currently speculative and unfounded.”

This clarification comes after earlier reports indicated that Pratibha Ranta, celebrated for her role in Laapataa Ladies, was expected to join the cast of Maha Munjya.

Both Shakti Shalini and Maha Munjya are eagerly anticipated additions to Maddock’s popular horror-comedy universe, which already boasts hits such as Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), Munjya (2024), and the recently released Stree 2 (2024).

Fans of the franchise can also look forward to its newest chapter, Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, set to hit theaters this Diwali.
