Singer Lola Young has updated fans, confirming she is “doing okay now” following a collapse during her performance at the All Things Go Festival in New York on Saturday. The 24-year-old artist was in the middle of her set when she appeared to drop her microphone and fall backward, causing concern among the audience and fellow performers.
Young took to Instagram to share a personal message: “Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing OK now. Thank you for all of your support, Lola.”
Videos circulating on social media captured the moment during her performance of ‘Conceited’, from her second album ‘This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway’, where she seemed to be feeling unwell before collapsing. Earlier in the show, she had mentioned to the crowd that she had “had a tricky couple of days” due to a “sensitive matter”, adding, “sometimes life throws you lemons” but one must “make lemonade”.
This incident followed the cancellation of her Friday performance at New Jersey’s Prudential Centre. Fellow artist Doechii, who performed after Young, showed her support by leading the crowd in a chant of “we love you Lola”. Doechii also commented on Young’s talent and her prior unwellness.
Lola Young, an alumna of the prestigious Brit School, has seen significant success with her 2024 hit song ‘Messy’, which topped charts internationally and gained immense popularity with Gen Z, particularly on TikTok. She achieved a notable milestone as the youngest British artist to have a number one single since Dave in 2022.
