During Logitech’s recent G Play event, where they showcased an array of exciting new gaming products, one budget-friendly gem truly stood out: the Logitech G321 wireless gaming headset. While high-end sim racing setups and innovative new mice drew attention, this affordable headset quietly stole the show.
This unassuming Logitech headset doesn’t boast groundbreaking audio or revolutionary technology. Instead, it offers an astonishingly comfortable, secure, and lightweight design, paired with versatile dual wireless connectivity, all at an incredibly low price. While it’s too soon to definitively crown it the top budget pick for gaming headsets, my initial impressions from the G Play show floor suggest it’s a strong contender.
Diving into its key features, the G321 is a wireless-exclusive headset, equipped with both Logitech’s proprietary Lightspeed 2.4GHz wireless technology and Bluetooth connectivity for broader compatibility (though you can’t use both simultaneously). It also comes with a convenient flip-down microphone and intuitive on-earcup controls for managing volume, power, and switching inputs.
These specifications are fairly standard, similar to the G435 Lightspeed, but with an improved battery life of two additional hours. However, the true standout feature for me was its exceptional lightness and comfort. Tipping the scales at a mere 210g, it’s a full 100g lighter than many common wireless gaming headsets. This featherlight design significantly reduces pressure on your head, making for extended, comfortable wear, and ensures it stays put even with head movements.
Adding to the comfort, the earcups feature deep, plush padding, providing ample space for your ears. While the headband padding isn’t excessively thick, opting for a design reminiscent of the Apple AirPods Pro (but with soft padding), the headset’s overall lightness truly makes up for it.
The passive noise isolation is remarkably effective. Even amidst the bustling environment of the G Play event, this headset managed to significantly dampen ambient noise, allowing for a surprisingly clear evaluation of its sound quality – a feat that even the pricier new Astro A20 X struggled with in the same loud setting.
Audiophiles who love deep bass will be delighted, as this headset delivers a powerful thumping sensation. However, this is also where its budget-friendly nature becomes apparent. While the sound is robust, full, and enjoyable for gaming, it does sacrifice subtle detail, becoming somewhat muddy, even in a chaotic setting like the G Play show floor. Nonetheless, for just $59, it offers an engaging enough audio experience for comfortable gaming on a limited budget.
Some might point out that the G435 is currently available for around $50 and is even lighter, and you wouldn’t be mistaken. But it’s important to remember that the G435 debuted at $80, making the G321’s launch price of $59 particularly impressive.
The Logitech G Play event serves as the company’s yearly grand exhibition for its newest gaming innovations, with this year’s show in Madrid introducing a total of 11 new products. Among them were the exciting new McLaren F1 sim racing gear and the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike gaming mouse, which features groundbreaking analog switches with adjustable haptic feedback, moving away from traditional microswitches.
Is this affordable wireless headset calling your name, or are you more intrigued by Logitech’s other innovative releases like the McLaren edition of the Astro A50 X? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
