Exciting news has just dropped for fans eagerly awaiting the *SANDA* anime! Ahead of its much-anticipated broadcast on October 3rd, it’s been announced that none other than the legendary voice actress Masako Nozawa will be lending her talent to the series, taking on the role of Toyo Tetsudome. Nozawa is, of course, globally recognized for her iconic portrayal of Goku in the beloved *Dragon Ball* franchise, making this a significant addition to the *SANDA* cast.
To celebrate this exciting announcement, a captivating new character trailer featuring Toyo Tetsudome has also been unveiled, offering a fresh glimpse into the anime’s world.
The *SANDA* anime is brought to life by a stellar team at Studio Science SARU. Tomohisa Shimoyama, known for his work on *YUREI DECO*, is directing the series. Kimiko Ueno, celebrated for her scripts in *Delicious in Dungeon*, handles the series composition and writing. Character designs and chief animation direction are led by Masamichi Ishiyama, who contributed to *Scott Pilgrim Takes Off*, while Tomoyuki Tanaka composes the music. The anime is based on the original manga created by the talented Paru Itagaki.
For international viewers, *SANDA* will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video outside of Japan. The series unfolds in a near-future Japan grappling with extremely low birthrates, where children are cherished yet constantly under surveillance. In this world, the very concept of Santa Claus is deemed dangerous and banned. On a snowy Christmas Day, middle-schooler Kazushige Sanda, who happens to be a descendant of Santa, finds himself unexpectedly attacked by his classmate Fuyumura. She desperately seeks his help to find her missing friend, Ono, pleading, ‘Santa, please find my friend.’ Driven by a desire to protect children from the complex world of adults, Sanda makes a life-changing decision: he will embrace his lineage and become Santa, fighting to safeguard the innocent.
