Actor Kirti Kulhari is brimming with pride and excitement as her latest film, “Full Plate,” directed by Tannishtha Chatterjee, has been selected to open the Indian Film Festival of Sydney. This prestigious screening follows the film’s successful world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, where it garnered significant acclaim.
“Full Plate” is described as a poignant and intimate narrative delving into the interconnected themes of food, faith, and the resilience found in everyday life. Kirti Kulhari portrays a homemaker who transitions into a cook, using her culinary skills to challenge societal norms and patriarchal expectations. The film also features notable performances from Sharib Hashmi, Indraneil Sengupta, and Monica Dogra.
Expressing her elation, Kulhari stated, “I fall short of words to describe just how thrilled I am that our labour of love will be at the Indian Film Festival of Sydney. There will be a lot of Indians at this festival, and it will be great to watch their reactions to the film. It will truly be a moment of pride as our film gets big and bigger, reaching so many people.”
Kulhari, who is attending the festival in Sydney, shared her anticipation for her first visit to Australia. “We had a fantastic start with the world premiere at Busan and now with this, my plate sure does seem pretty full! I have never been to Australia before, so I am really looking forward to the whole experience there,” she added.
In addition to the film’s screening, the acclaimed actress will participate in a special ‘Women in Film’ panel discussion, celebrating the contributions of women in cinema. Fans can also look forward to Kulhari’s upcoming projects, including the fourth season of “Four More Shots Please!” and another untitled film currently in production.
“Full Plate” is a collaborative effort produced by Ashutosh Goswami and Anup Chitnis of Ashutosh Entertainments, alongside Mohaan Nadaar and Ketki Pandit of Teamo HQ Productions Ltd.
