Canadian authorities have recently arrested Inderjeet Singh Gosal, a prominent Khalistani leader, in Whitby, Ontario. He faces a multitude of firearms-related charges, according to reports from local media. Ontario Provincial Police officers reportedly apprehended Mr. Gosal on Friday, September 19, for serious offenses, including the careless handling of a handgun.
Gosal, aged 36, made a court appearance in Oshawa on Monday, September 22, where he was formally charged. In connection with the incident, Arman Singh, 23, of Toronto, and Jagdeep Singh, 41, a New York resident, were also charged.
This arrest carries particular weight as Mr. Gosal assumed leadership of a referendum campaign for Khalistan following the assassination of its previous coordinator, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Surrey, British Columbia.
Additionally, Inderjeet Singh Gosal is identified as a member of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), an organization advocating for an independent Sikh state. The group’s principal figure, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, has previously been designated a terrorist by the Indian Government.
Attempts to contact Mr. Gosal for comment on Monday, September 22, were unsuccessful.
