Filmmaker Karan Johar, known for his close bond with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, recently shared insights into the similarities between the actor and his son, Aryan Khan. Johar, who made a cameo in Aryan’s directorial debut, ‘The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’ (a placeholder for ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’), expressed his admiration for Aryan, calling him his ‘firstborn’.
During a candid conversation on Komal Nahta’s YouTube channel, ‘Game Changers’, Johar was asked to identify a shared and a differentiating quality between Shah Rukh and Aryan. He highlighted their mutual passion for filmmaking, stating, “They are both crazily, equally, madly, obsessively passionate about every shot in every scene.” Johar elaborated on Aryan’s intensity, mentioning, “Aryan goes berserk if he doesn’t get what he wants.” He humorously pointed out the key difference: Aryan’s preference for being behind the camera rather than in front of it.
Johar also touched upon his long-standing professional relationship with Shah Rukh Khan, emphasizing the actor’s unique approach to work. He revealed that Shah Rukh has never discussed money or even scripts before signing a film, often relying on their deep friendship and trust. “He’s my family,” Johar stated, underscoring the personal nature of their professional collaborations. Their enduring friendship dates back to Karan’s early days as an assistant director on ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ and Karan’s directorial debut, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, both of which featured Shah Rukh Khan in pivotal roles.
