India’s Women’s Cricket Team Clinches Historic World Cup Title; Bollywood Stars Hail Victory

History was made on November 2nd as the Women in Blue secured their first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in a thrilling final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The exceptional performance on the field earned Shafali Verma the Player of the Match award. While the trophy was lifted by the team, the victory resonated as a triumph for the entire nation, with countless stars taking to social media to express their pride.

Women in Blue celebrate their win

Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor drew parallels to the iconic 1983 Cricket World Cup win, sharing on Instagram, “For decades sirf parents se sunte thhe what 1983 felt like. Humein humara yeh wala moment dene ke liye 🫡 Thank you girls 🙏🇮🇳 This is for generations.”

Amitabh Bachchan lauded the team on Twitter, tweeting, “T 5552 – जीत गये !!! 🇮🇳🇮🇳 India Women Cricket .. WORLD CHAMPIONS !! So much pride you have brought for us all .. CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS !!!! 💃🏻💃🏻🕺👏💪.” Director SS Rajamouli also shared his elation, stating, “CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD! 🇮🇳🫡 Our Women in Blue have done it! Deepti’s all-round brilliance and Shafali’s explosive batting lit the path to glory. Every Indian heart is bursting with pride! @BCCIWomen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan expressed her joy, writing, “Still crying tears of joy❤️ @indiancricketteam,” while Farhan Akhtar celebrated, “History made! Congratulations to our girls in blue. Batted and bowled like champions and now.. they are the World Champions ..! What a game!! A comprehensive team performance. Let the celebrations begin .. 🫡🇮🇳🏆.” Hrithik Roshan added his praise, tweeting, “Jeet gaye!! 🥳 HISTORIC! Congratulations Team India on our first Women’s Cricket World Cup win. To the beginning of many more.. All my love & respect 🇮🇳♥️.”

Other celebrities, including Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, and Anushka Sharma, also joined in celebrating this momentous occasion on social media, extending their heartfelt congratulations to the victorious Women in Blue.
