ICICI Bank, in collaboration with the esteemed Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has proudly announced the commencement of construction for a brand-new cancer care facility. Located at TMC’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer in Navi Mumbai, this initiative marks a significant leap forward in India’s fight against cancer.
This ambitious project is being brought to life through ICICI Bank’s impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contribution of ₹625 crore. Once operational, this center is set to become one of India’s largest radiation therapy facilities, equipped with the most advanced technologies available for cancer treatment.
The Navi Mumbai project is just one part of ICICI Bank’s broader, far-reaching commitment of ₹1,800 crore to the Tata Memorial Centre. This larger pledge aims to establish three state-of-the-art cancer care buildings across India: one in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra; another in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh), Punjab; and a third in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, as confirmed by the bank.
The foundational ceremony for the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ was held recently on October 19, 2025, marking the official start of its construction.
Envisioned as an impressive 11-storey structure, complete with a ground floor and two basements, the building will span a vast 3.4 lakh square feet. It will be home to 12 cutting-edge Linear Accelerators (LINACs), crucial for delivering precise radiation directly to cancer cells while minimizing harm to surrounding healthy tissues, alongside other advanced cancer care equipment. The ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ is projected to provide essential radiation therapies to 7,200 patients each year, totaling over two lakh radiation sessions.
Furthermore, the facility will extend its services to include OPD consultations and diagnostics for an estimated 25,000 new patients annually. The project is anticipated to be completed by 2027, with the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the CSR arm of ICICI Bank, overseeing its meticulous implementation.
Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Chairman of ICICI Bank, expressed his vision for the project: “Upon its completion, the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ will stand as one of India’s most expansive centers for radiation therapy. This will dramatically increase the availability of advanced radiation treatment to a broader spectrum of our society.”
Adding to this sentiment, Sandeep Batra, Executive Director, ICICI Bank, stated, “Our dedication extends to bolstering healthcare infrastructure, particularly in the critical area of cancer care nationwide. Our substantial ₹1,800 crore commitment to the Tata Memorial Centre for three new cancer care hospitals in Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and Mullanpur exemplifies this unwavering dedication.”
Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director of the Tata Memorial Centre, welcomed the partnership, affirming, “This invaluable contribution reinforces our mission to deliver advanced, compassionate care to the most vulnerable cancer patients across the country.”
