During this week’s ‘Beyond the Strand’ event, a celebration of Kojima Productions’ tenth anniversary, Hideo Kojima made several announcements. Among them was a particularly surprising reveal: a partnership with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) to launch an official Kojima Productions credit card.
Scheduled for release in the latter half of 2026, this unique credit card will allow users to earn points on their spending. These points can then be redeemed for exclusive merchandise and various other Kojima-related items. Further details about the card’s features and benefits are expected to be announced in due course.
The announcement garnered some amusing reactions, with one notable comment from Chris Person (on Bluesky) succinctly stating, “Oh yeah, a kojima productions credit card, of course. Makes sense. What.”
While this card is anticipated to be a Japan-exclusive offering, gamers in the US already have a few platform-specific credit card options, such as the Xbox credit card from Microsoft and the PlayStation credit card from Sony, both providing platform-centric bonuses.
Beyond the credit card, the ‘Beyond the Strand’ event also featured new teasers for two highly anticipated games: OD, an Xbox-published title, and Physint, a Sony-published project. Additionally, Kojima announced an intriguing collaboration with Niantic, the former developer behind Pokémon Go, to craft an entirely new interactive experience.
The event also showcased an image gallery titled “Here’s The Hideo Kojima Picture You’ve Been Waiting For,” adding a visual component to the flurry of announcements.
