“Goodbye, Lara” is a special project, conceived to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Kinema Citrus. It offers a fresh, modern Japanese re-imagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless fairy tale, “The Little Mermaid.” The story centers on Lara, a mermaid who, in a previous life, transformed into a human to pursue love with a human prince. Tragically, her quest ended in failure, and she dissolved into sea foam. Two hundred years later, Lara is reincarnated, finding herself in the serene Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. This time, she is resolute and determined to finally find true love.
