There’s something undeniably captivating about the Orks in Warhammer. Whether they’re stomping around as formidable foes in titles like Space Marine 2, or stealing the spotlight as hilarious protagonists in games like Shootas, Blood and Teef, their chaotic energy is simply unmatched. On the tabletop, they’re a blast to play, and the joy of custom-building a fleet of looted Deff Dreads is a hobbyist’s dream. So, it’s a bit of a mystery why it took me so long to dive into Warhammer 40k Speed Freeks. This wild, chaotic racer hit PC earlier this year and is now gearing up for a massive Orktober update, bringing with it a much-anticipated map editor!
For those who haven’t yet experienced the thrill, Warhammer 40k Speed Freeks offers a high-octane, Mad Max-esque racing experience, brimming with pure, unadulterated Ork chaos. We’re talking about the good kind of chaos here – roaring engines, ramshackle vehicles, and greenskins living their best, destructive lives. Since hopping into this glorious, albeit shambling, Trukk, it has quickly cemented its place as one of my top Warhammer 40k games, purely for the exhilarating, lawless fun of its races.
Whether you dream of piloting a massive Stompa or simply want to tear across the wasteland in a Boomdakka Snazzwagon, lobbing ‘C-ork-tails’ at any unsuspecting Grot, Speed Freeks delivers an authentic Ork experience. It truly captures the unpredictable essence of the greenskins, allowing players to unleash their fiercest Waaagh! as they rev their engines and shower the skies with bullets.
And if that wasn’t enough to get your gears grinding, developer Caged Element Inc. has just revealed a host of exciting new features slated to arrive around Warhammer Day in late October.
This upcoming update promises fresh maps for all game modes, a mysterious new vehicle (fingers crossed for a looted Carnifex!), and much more. But the real highlight? The introduction of powerful creation tools, enabling players to design their own levels and races, complete with an integrated online workshop for seamless sharing with the community.
I’m incredibly excited to witness the ingenious creations that the Meks of Speed Freeks will conjure. My Grot Mega Tank is already getting a fresh tank of fuel in anticipation! This Orktober is poised to be spectacularly green and gloriously chaotic, and I’m personally ready to design a racetrack so wild it would make Mork (or even Gork) blanch!
If this news has ignited your inner Ork, be sure to explore other fantastic Warhammer games. And while you’re at it, perhaps it’s time for a gaming setup upgrade; a new monitor would surely enhance your Speed Freeks experience, leaving your old screen ready to be repurposed as a vital component in your next looted vehicle!
So, what kind of epic, bone-crunching maps will you craft once these new tools arrive? Share your wildest ideas with the community!
