Get Ready to Race! F1: The Movie Speeds Onto 4K Blu-ray This October
Formula One racing has exploded in popularity across the US in recent years, largely thanks to captivating Netflix series like ‘Drive to Survive.’ It was only a matter of time before the high-octane sport made its way to the big screen. Earlier this year, ‘F1: The Movie,’ starring Brad Pitt, became a blockbuster sensation. Now, enthusiasts can pre-order the stunning 4K Steelbook Blu-ray edition for $38, set to release on October 7th. Standard 4K and regular Blu-ray versions are also available for pre-order.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘F1: The Movie’ plunges viewers into the world of former F1 driver Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt). After a devastating crash in the ’90s led him to abandon the sport, Hayes spent three decades as a journeyman racer. His former F1 rival, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), eventually offers him a shot to join his F1 team. Hayes seizes the opportunity, determined to prove he still possesses the competitive edge required for the sport’s highest level.
However, challenges quickly emerge. With only a few races left in the season, the APXGP team is deeply in debt. Compounding matters, rookie driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) clashes with Hayes’ seasoned, old-school approach. To save APXGP from financial ruin and finish the season strong, both drivers must learn to work together as a cohesive unit.
Globally, ‘F1: The Movie’ garnered an impressive $623 million at the box office. Critics lauded the film for its stellar ensemble cast and remarkable authenticity. Filmed during both the 2023 and 2024 F1 seasons, the movie features numerous real-life F1 drivers, including champions like Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton. To further enhance realism, actual F1 commentators Martin Brundle and David Croft lent their voices to the film’s races, which were shot on authentic Grand Prix tracks.
Beyond its attention to detail, ‘F1: The Movie’ excels at immersing the audience in the driver’s perspective. Kosinski once again collaborated with cinematographer Claudio Miranda to deliver breathtaking in-car shots, making the risks of each race feel incredibly real. This immersive experience is perfectly complemented by the iconic score from renowned composer Hans Zimmer, which captures the technical intensity of modern Formula One racing.
