Attention, Vault Hunters! The planned Borderlands 4 patch, which was set to introduce nerfs to some of the looter shooter’s most dominant builds, has been postponed until “early next week.” This delay means you have an entire extra weekend to enjoy those incredibly strong, boss-melting strategies. Gearbox has confirmed that this update, originally slated for the end of the current week, will also include significant performance and stability improvements, alongside new quality-of-life features, all leading up to the game’s upcoming Halloween event.
The Borderlands 4 development team shared this update, stating, “Our Day 30 update, which includes balance adjustments, performance and stability improvements, and some new quality-of-life features, will be hitting early next week.” They elaborated that this decision was made to “help ensure a great experience for you.”
Previously, Creative Director Graeme Timmins had issued a seven-day heads-up for players enjoying these powerful builds. While that warning has since expired, this new delay provides a welcome extension. For many, Borderlands 4 has quickly become a standout among recent releases, and this extra time is a fantastic chance to try out infamous strategies, like the crit knife Vex build known for its bleed-stacking, boss-melting efficiency, before its “unintended interaction” is addressed.
As seasoned fans of ARPGs and looter shooters know, balance adjustments are often a necessary part of a game’s evolution. With Borderlands 4’s first Invincible Boss recently revealed and scheduled to arrive in December as part of a free update, maintaining game balance is crucial. As Timmins himself noted, “If we balanced that content around bad gear, it would remove build diversity, forcing players into specific builds using said gear.”

For those wondering what to do with this bonus weekend, the regular weekly activities have just reset. This week’s featured boss is The Oppressor, and The Council Divide is the wildcard mission. If you’re looking for Maurice’s Black Market, you’ll find it by heading out of the western back door of Moxxi’s Bottoms Up bar, turning left, and following the narrow cliff edge as it curves around. The Halloween event, Horrors of Kairos, is set to begin on Thursday, October 23.
