Ismail Darbar, the renowned film score composer, has openly shared his expectations regarding family members, particularly his daughter-in-law, Gauahar Khan. In a recent conversation, Darbar discussed Gauahar’s career in the context of her marriage to his son, Zaid Darbar. He drew a comparison with his own wife, Ayesha Darbar, who he believes made a significant sacrifice by stepping away from her career to focus on their child. Ayesha was reportedly earning ₹5 lakh a month from shows and had acting offers but chose not to pursue them, even when money was tight for the family.
Darbar acknowledged that his views might be perceived differently by the public, stating, “I come from a backward family. We used to turn away whenever a sensuous type of scene would come in a movie. This happens in our house even today.” He believes that as Gauahar is now part of their family, her reputation is also their responsibility. However, he clarified that the decision to ask her not to work rests solely with Zaid, not him. He added that he avoids engaging in activities that might cause him discomfort.
Ultimately, Darbar prioritized his peace of mind, stating candidly, “I’m not one to mince my words. I know that I will not be able to tolerate what I see, and if I am not able to tolerate what I see, I will confront them.” Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar married in 2020 and have two sons, Zehaan and another baby boy born earlier this year.
