According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is on track to introduce its inaugural touchscreen MacBook Pro between late 2026 and early 2027. This device is set to incorporate cutting-edge OLED technology, a feature already familiar to users of iPhone and iPad Pro models. Should these rumors hold true, it would mark a significant milestone, bringing this premium display technology to Apple’s flagship laptop series for the first time.
The speculated lineup of laptops is expected to run on Apple’s formidable M6 chip, offering “thinner and lighter frames” for enhanced portability and aesthetics. Industry insider Mark Gurman revealed that these devices carry codenames K114 and K116, suggesting potential availability in both 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. Despite the introduction of a touchscreen, the upcoming MacBook Pro model is anticipated to maintain the familiar trackpad and keyboard design of its predecessors.
Gurman also hinted at additional design modifications for the OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro. Notably, the laptop might forgo the traditional display notch, which currently houses the front-facing camera on existing models. Instead, Apple is reportedly considering a discreet hole-punch cutout for the camera. This new cutout could potentially replicate the interactive functionality of the Dynamic Island, a popular feature first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro series in September 2022.
