From ‘Lucky’ to Employed: Indian Techie Shares the Real Story Behind Her Microsoft Dream Job

Many people often assume that landing a job at a prestigious company like Microsoft is simply a matter of luck. However, one Indian tech professional is sharing her journey to highlight the extensive hard work and dedication that truly lie behind such achievements. She took to Instagram to share a video that showcases her academic journey, from school to IIT, and ultimately, her triumphant moment standing in front of the Microsoft office.

In her heartfelt post, she explained, “People see the destination and think it’s luck. What they don’t see is the journey that built it. Luck plays a part, yes! But without patience, persistence, and discipline, it can’t take you anywhere.” This sentiment resonated deeply with many on social media.

The video features her certificates from school and IIT, visually representing the milestones of her hard work. One user commented on her mechanical engineering background leading to a Microsoft role, to which she replied that companies value potential and skills over specific degrees, especially during internships and placements. Her LinkedIn profile confirms her mechanical engineering degree from IIT and the acquisition of necessary technical skills.

Social media users praised her for sharing her story, with comments like, “Exactly, everyone just sees the results and gives their opinion, but they don’t see the struggle behind it.” Others inquired about the value of a mechanical engineering degree, and she eloquently responded that her IIT mechanical engineering experience fostered invaluable skills in learning, competition, and problem-solving, ultimately opening diverse career paths.

Shivanjali Verma’s journey, starting with internships at Microsoft in 2021 and 2022 before securing a software engineer position in 2023, serves as a powerful reminder that success is built on a foundation of relentless effort, not just chance.
