Just when you thought Fortnite couldn’t get any crazier, Epic Games drops another sensational battle royale mode! Meet ‘Delulu Mode,’ a fresh twist that’s unlike anything you’ve experienced before. It introduces two game-changing features: real-time proximity voice chat and the freedom to team up with rival players mid-game. But don’t be fooled; only one victor can emerge. Forget any ‘Hunger Games’ berry tricks—this isn’t that kind of finale.
Delulu Mode has been an absolute blast, blending the intensity of a traditional battle royale with the social vibe of Party Royale. Imagine a battle royale focused on making friends (or frenemies!). You can use a special emote to instantly join or leave other players’ parties, and since teaming is encouraged, you’re free to gather as many allies as you can, even beyond your initial party size.
Because human interaction is at the heart of this mode, a microphone is essential. You’ll need to have your in-game voice chat enabled and set to ‘Everybody’ before you can even queue up. While you can start a round with friends, remember that everyone drops in solo, and ultimately, you’ll have to face them if you want to claim victory.

Currently, Delulu Mode is a weekend-only event, running from Friday morning to Monday morning, with plans to return weekly. While it’s a refreshing change, there are a few unspoken rules and nuances. So, before you drop into the chaos, here are three crucial tips to keep in mind for Fortnite Delulu.
No Reboots, But Anyone Can Revive a Downed Player
Delulu Mode is strictly a solo endeavor, meaning only one player can win each round. Once you’re out, you’re out for good—there are no reboots here. However, players are always ‘knocked’ before they’re eliminated. The surprising twist? Any player can revive a downed opponent, regardless of their team or squad status. Sometimes, your foes might just show mercy; it’s not as rare as you might think.
Proximity Chat Affects Your Squad Too!
Don’t expect your squad’s voice chat to function like normal BR modes. In Delulu, proximity chat rules all. You’ll only be able to hear and speak to your teammates when they’re within your immediate vicinity. This means if your friends wander too far, they’ll be out of earshot. Keep this in mind, especially if you suspect they might be plotting a betrayal!
Embracing a Non-Hostile Playstyle Actually Works
While some players treat Delulu like any other battle royale, most are eager to engage with its social elements and simply hang out. I’ve personally experienced games where over a dozen players roamed peacefully across the map until the endgame forced us to turn on each other. And yes, a few rounds ended with ‘sociopathic teens’ pretending to be chill only to backstab me, but I’ve had surprisingly few early exits even when adopting a pacifist approach. It’s far less stressful than you’d expect!
Don’t Focus on Winning in Delulu
Although the objective of Delulu is to be the last one standing, this mode is truly best enjoyed with a ‘let’s see what happens’ mindset. It’s a rare gaming experience where the journey genuinely outweighs the destination. Delulu rounds unfold in bizarre and unpredictable ways, and the most fun often comes from playing completely differently than you would in other battle royale modes.
